In 2023, Dr. Ali Taha Koç was appointed CEO of Turkcell, Türkiye’s pioneer of communication technologies.
Dr. Ali Taha Koç is a graduate of Bilkent University’s Faculty of Engineering, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. After completing his master’s and doctoral degrees in electrical engineering on a full scholarship at the University of Texas at Dallas, he began his professional career as a research and development engineer at Intel in the United States. During his time at Intel, he developed and managed numerous international projects.
Dr. Ali Taha Koç has published 23 articles in various peer-reviewed academic publications and has developed 61 patents. In 2013, he was one of the top ten engineers who filed the most patents. Dr. Ali Taha Koç returned to Türkiye in 2014 and was appointed Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister in Ankara. He was simultaneously appointed to the Presidency’s Information Technologies Directorate during his tenure. He led the establishment of the Presidency’s State Information Coordination Centre (DBKM), which ensures the flow of information from all ministries and security units. On 12 September 2018, he was appointed to the Digital Transformation Office of Türkiye. Dr. Koç was a member of the Board of Directors of Türksat Satellite Communication Cable TV and Operation Inc. between 2018 and 2023, where he introduced many innovations never seen before in Türkiye and made an essential contribution to the nation’s digitalization process.
