Department Administration

Tolga M. Duman received the B.S. degree from Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey, in 1993, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Northeastern University, Boston, MA, USA, in 1995 and 1998, respectively, all in electrical engineering. He joined The Electrical and Electronics Department of Bilkent University in 2012, and since September 2019, he has been the department chair. Prior to joining Bilkent University in 2012, he was a tenured professor with the School of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering at Arizona State University. His current research interests are in systems, with particular focus on communication and signal processing, including wireless and mobile communications, coding/modulation, coding for wireless communications, data storage systems, and underwater acoustic communications. Dr. Duman is a Fellow of IEEE, a recipient of the National Science Foundation CAREER Award and IEEE Third Millennium medal. He has also received the Distinguished Teaching Award from Bilkent University in 2019. He served as editor in various journals in his area including IEEE Trans. on Wireless Communications and IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials. He is currently the Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Communications.
