We are moving towards a digitalized society in which artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning are expected to play a key role in our daily activities. In recent years, we are witnessing a rapid increase in the use of machine learning methods in healthcare, communication and transportation services. In order to develop AI-enabled products for these services, many national and international companies are constantly looking for engineers who are well-educated in the field of machine learning.
With its world-renowned faculty members and its strong education program based on mathematical foundations, Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department at Bilkent University is a leader in artificial intelligence and machine learning research in Turkey. Our faculty members are developing new techniques to address recent societal and technological challenges that appear in recommender systems, healthcare, next-generation and 5G communications, cybersecurity, emergency services, robotics and social networks. Research carried out by our faculty members in these areas is being published in the highest-ranked international conferences and journals in artificial intelligence and machine learning, making our department among the best in Turkey in terms of publication quality and quantity. Our department offers a wide range of courses related to machine learning, including Statistical Learning and Data Analytics, Artificial Neural Networks, Robotics, Computational Neuroscience, Statistical Foundations of Natural Language Processing and Industrial Completion Projects. Thanks to the strong machine learning education they receive in our department, a significant number of our graduates are currently working as managers, team leaders and senior engineers in machine learning related projects run by top national and international technology companies.
