EEE M.S. Student Talha Akyıldız received the 2020 IEEE International Black Sea Conference on Communications and Networking (BlackSeaCom) best paper award.
Talha’s paper is entitled Search-Free Precoder Selection for 5G New Radio Using Neural Networks, and it is co-authored by his advisor Prof. Tolga M. Duman. The paper employs deep-learning to solve a practical wireless communications problem with significantly reduced complexity. The work was supported by ASELSAN Inc. under the “5G Platform” project which is partly funded by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK).
The IEEE BlackSeaCom series of conferences are held in the countries surrounding the Black Sea with the goal of bringing together visionaries in academia, research labs and industry from all over the world to the shores of the Black Sea. In 2020, it was originally scheduled to be held in Odessa, Ukraine, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was held as a virtual conference in May 2020.
