Bilkent EEE Ph.D. graduate Dr. Musa Tunç Arslan received the 2023 Serhat Özyar Young Scientist of the Year Honorary Award.
Dr. Musa Tunç Arslan has received the award for his Ph.D. thesis entitled “Rapid relaxation-based color magnetic particle imaging” under the supervision of Assoc. Dr. Emine Ülkü Sarıtaş. In his Ph.D. research, Dr. Arslan developed novel methods to expand the functionality of a new biomedical imaging modality called magnetic particle imaging (MPI) in interventional imaging, and experimentally demonstrated these methods. In his thesis, Dr. Arslan proposed novel methods that enable rapid relaxation mapping to make interventional imaging with MPI feasible. The outputs of his thesis work have been published in IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging, the leading journal in the field of biomedical imaging.
